Tip: If the V6 still pulses after a new battery, it’s almost always the filter/airflow. Replace or clean the filter first.
Step-by-Step: Replace a Dyson V6 Battery
Time: ~2 minutes | Tools: Small Phillips screwdriver
What you’ll need
- Phillips screwdriver
- Replacement V6 battery (genuine or high-capacity aftermarket)
- Clean pre-filter recommended
-
Power down & remove bin
Unplug the charger. Pull the red bin lever to open the dustbin and slide the bin off to expose the battery’s front screw.
-
Undo the two screws
One screw is in the handle base; the other is at the front (where the bin was). Keep the screws safe.
-
Slide out the old battery
Pull the pack straight out. Check terminals for dust/debris and wipe gently if needed.
-
Install the new battery
Slide the new pack in until it clicks. Refit the two screws (snug, not over-tight).
-
Refit the bin & first charge
Slide the bin back on. Put the V6 on charge until the light goes solid. Do a quick test on normal mode.

No special conditioning. First charge until the light goes solid; avoid deep discharges and store/charge at room temperature.
Still pulsing after battery swap?
Replace/clean the filter and check for blockages. New filter set here.
